Fund Accounting Coordinator

The St. Louis Education Fund seeks an individual with strong bookkeeping skills to fill this part-time position minimum of 15 hours per week. This individual will work closely with the Fund’s Development & Operations Manager to monitor contributions and transactions that support funded initiatives in areas that are aligned with the Fund’s strategy. Fund-supported initiatives fall under three priority areas: (1) health, wellness, and safety; (2) preK-8 literacy; and (3) post-secondary readiness and opportunity. The ideal candidate should understand the mission of the Fund and be able to support our vision and goals through accurate and timely bookkeeping.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide fund account managers of restricted fund accounts with assistance in accessing their fund account reports

  • Reconcile monthly gift reports with accountants using CRM data exports on incoming gifts, internal Excel spreadsheets on outgoing checks and transactions, and internal receipts on expense card transactions

  • Identify and investigate the root of issues when two or more spreadsheets cannot be reconciled

  • Support the maintenance of accounting integrity through regular data audits, flagging incorrectly designated transactions, and ensuring follow-up with accountants

Expectations:

  • Attends weekly accounting meetings (Wednesdays 10am-12pm)

  • Completes weekly hours & schedule as required

  • Provides a written activity report of all transactions completed the previous week during weekly check-ins

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience plus at least 5 – 7 years experience in the accounting field

  • Nonprofit/fund accounting experience is a plus.

  • Data entry experience

  • Experience with Quickbooks preferred, but not required

  • Proficiency with data entry and management in Microsoft Office (Excel) and Google Sheets required

  • Strong time management and organization skills with good judgment in establishing priorities and meeting deadlines

  • Ability to keep up a task independently, once trained

  • Ability to keep up with regular responsibilities while attending to unexpected, time sensitive requests
